If You Give A Mouse A Cookie

I love the children's book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. Not only because I'm fond of chocolate chip cookies but also because I can relate to the experience of the mouse going for a cookie, needing milk, and somehow cleaning his entire house before passing out for a nap.

When I start working on a big project, I often write my end goal on a post-it and keep it front and center, so I remember what I am trying to achieve during a specific work session. It's common for the quest for a link to embed in an email to take me in an entirely different direction.

However, when I keep my post-it note front and center, it helps me remain grounded in what I am trying to accomplish, and I've found that I can get excited about what I'm working on, and before I know it 2 or 3 hours can pass, and I've accomplished something fabulous.

It's a great feeling!

It's the feeling that you get when you achieve a flow state.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi coined a flow state as an intense feeling of focus where you are immersed in whatever you are doing.

To achieve this level of focus and flow, it's essential that you enjoy and are good at what you're working on, embrace the process of what you're trying to achieve ( and not just the goal), and set yourself up with a distraction-free environment.

Blocking time to work uninterrupted on a specific task can help you optimize your productivity and achieve a flow state.

That's why we offer multiple 2-hour virtual co-working sessions in The Zone Community every week.

We provide the conditions to achieve a flow state alongside like-minded professionals and maximize your time and productivity.

We're hosting two co-working sessions in The Zone today (Jan 3).

11 AM - 1 PM EST, followed by 2 - 4 PM EST
